Coast to Kosciuszko is an iconic Australian ultramarathon. Starting at Twofold Bay near Eden the course traverses 240km to arrive at the summit of Mt Kosciuszko, the highest point in Australia. 2023 was my first time taking part in this awesome race, which copped huge amounts of rain and weather.
The Guzzler is a trail running event on the slopes of Mt Coot-Tha in Brisbane, which takes one on a tour through national park and past three of Brisbane's reservoirs. In 2023 I ran the 100km event, went out a little too hard and despite an implosion at 60km, finished in 13:36:00 and 7th place.
Continuing the theme of using running to explore new places, whilst staying in Schliersee, Bavaria I ran across the hills to the next village over - only a short run, but one that was filled with snow, excellent views, friendly locals, and a pub on the hill only accessible by foot or cycle.
The Brecherspitz is an impressive peak near Schliersee, Bavaria. Whilst on holiday there during the winter, I decided to do a run / hike up to the peak as a long run. An amazing mountain to climb, with epic scenery and views. Despite a slight injury it was still an awesome run.
A race report of the 2022 Great Southern Endurance Run (GSER) 100 mile event. Covering 161.8km with 10680m of elevation gain, this is a tough and beautiful course through the Victorian high country. Real grit shown by all athletes, supported by some truly amazing volunteers and supporters.
A race report of the Alpine Challenge 100km Ultra in April 2022. This is the second time I've run this race, and once again had great weather for the 100km / 4000m run. I finished this year in 14:05, beating my 2021 time by nearly an hour.
The Buffalo Stampede Grand Slam is a three day stage race where you race in 3x events over three days - The 10km Twilight Skysprint, the 20km Skyrace and the 42.2km SkyMarathon for a cumulative total of 72km.
A weekend spent running in the Australian Alps. We spent two days camping and running around the Guthega area in Kosciuszko National Park. With runs up to Mt Twynam, the Munyang Aqueduct and the Rennix trail, it was a tiring but great weekend!
